Everton in for Swiss starlet
Everton are interested in signing FC Basel youngster Breel Embolo in January, according to The Daily Star.
The 18-year-old was born in Cameroon but has opted to play for Switzerland and has so far made five appearances for his chosen national side.
The Blues will be competing with Aston Villa for his signature while Tottenham Hotspur reportedly had a bid rejected for him in the summer.
Wolfsburg had lined up the 18-year-old as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who departed to Manchester City for an astronomical amount in the summer.
It is understood a bid in the region of £15m is what will be required to tempt the Swiss club to sell.
He has made 64 appearances for Basel so far, scoring 25 times. He has chipped in with 15 assists and scored in the Europa League victory against Czech side Lech Poznan at the start of the month.
Embolo, who can operate as a striker or winger, is one of Switzerland’s hottest prospects and is highly rated by many in the game, the Merseysiders were linked with a deadline day move for the teenager but it didn’t come to pass.
