Everton, along with Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Newcastle United and Schalke 04, had a bid for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani rejected during the January transfer window.
Portuguese news outlet DN says that Sporting rejected offers ranging from €15million to €24millon throughout the month.
They report that the €15million bid came from Leicester City, but do not mention the amount Everton offered.

It is not a surprise that teams were interested in taking the Algerian in January as he has been in great form this season. He’s bagged 16 goals in 19 league games for Sporting this campaign, and he has also been credited with three assists.
The 27-year-old’s hypothetical arrival would’ve probably put paid to Oumar Niasse’s chances of joining the Toffeemen, but a move for the in-form hitman never materialised and Niasse made his £13.5million move on deadline day.
