Ramiro Funes Mori is a surprise target for Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The 24-year-old Argentine has largely impressed since his £9.5million move from South American giants River Plate, so much so that he’s believed to have caught the eye of the Catalonians who have been scouting a bevy of Everton players.

John Stones is understood to be on Luis Enrique’s wishlist and Gerard Deulofeu has been linked with a return back to his boyhood club.

Deulofeu has a paltry buy-out clause that Barcelona could activate in the summer for around two weeks, but Stones’ astronomical price tag has seemingly forced Barcelona to look elsewhere for a centre-half, due to their ongoing problems with sponsorship deals and contract renewals.

They didn’t look too far, though, with Funes Mori seen as an enticing proposition for the Blaugrana, who’ve struggled to fill the void left by Club legend, Carles Puyol.

Everton wouldn’t want to see the Argentina international leave after just one season on Merseyside, and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona test the Toffeemen’s resolve in the summer with a formal bid.
