Former Everton striker and current Match of The Day presenter, Gary Lineker, believes that next season Everton could replicate Leicester City’s form and challenge for the Premier League title.

Lineker says if Everton keep their squad together that The Blues could be lifting The Premier League trophy next season.

Lineker believes that thus far this season Everton have been hit and miss, but if they can keep this squad together they could well push for silverware:

It has been a bit hit and miss in terms of results but Everton are one of the sides that I really love to watch. They play great football and the entertainment value, for me, is a big part of the game.

Lineker admitted that Everton have dropped points that they shouldn’t have but it is still confident that Everton fans need not worry and that this is the generation capable of leading Everton to Premier League glory.

They have been unfortunate in some games and perhaps let things slip when they shouldn’t have done – but I wouldn’t be panicking as an Everton fan with the players the club has.

Linker also stated that Everton will be a force next year if they can keep their key performers such as Barkley, Deulofeu and Lukaku:

They have resisted other clubs trying to get those players, which is a good sign, and they have got the makings of a side who could go on and do something like Leicester have done.

That’s not beyond the realms of possibility if they can keep the current bunch together.
