Everton cruised past Aston Villa who put up a late fight but still fell to a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Blues.
Goals from Funes Mori, Aaron Lennon and Romelu Lukaku secured the victory, with Mori also getting the assist for Lukaku’s strike.
Everton face West Ham at Goodison in their next game as the two fight for the European places, with Chelsea in the FA Cup Quarter-Final seven days later at Goodison Park.
Joel Robles - 7
Made some very good saves in the first-half to deny Villa a way back in the game.
Commanded his area well and once again made a good account of himself to keep Tim Howard far away from the team.
Seamus Coleman - 7
Good performance from the Irishman as expected, solid defensively as well as good going forward!
No one to replace him so likely to see him stay in the team for the foreseeable future.
Phil Jagielka - 7
An impressive performance from the captain yet again who is imperative to the team at the back.
No one else in that back line brings as much experience and leadership as Jags.
Funes Mori - 9 (MOTM)
Brilliant from the Argentine tonight. A goal and an assist cap off a brilliant performance going forward as well as a comfortable one at the back.
Hard to see Stones back in the team with this lad playing out of his skin.
Byran Oviedo - 6
Solid from the Costa-Rican who did show his fitness throughout the game, decent going forward and didn’t look too out of place defending.
Did come off injured late on in the game, Leighton Baines replacing him.
Gareth Barry - 8
Another brilliant performance from Barry who is well and truly the spine of this Everton team.
The veteran kept the ball well in midfield and pulled the strings coming out from the back and getting on the attack.
James McCarthy - 7
Solid performance from the Irishman who broke up the play well in midfield.
His work rate was as impressive as ever and really brought bite to the midfield which was needed when the Irishman was injured.
Aaron Lennon - 8
Another goal for Aaron gives Roberto Martinez a hard decision to make in terms of Gerard Deulofeu.
Lennon has kept the Catalonian on the bench and with the form he is in it is hard to see when Deulofeu will get his chance.
I’m sure that will be a welcome headache for the manager.
Ross Barkley - 6.5
Not the best of performances from the midfielder but still looked threatening going forward.
Got the attack going for Lennon’s goal and did try his best to drive at a weak Aston Villa defence.
Hopefully we will see better from Barkley next week.
Kevin Mirallas - 7
Made a decent account of himself when called upon to start the game.
Got one assist for Lennon’s goal and will be looking to keep his place in the side.
Romelu Lukaku - 7
Took his goal well but it wasn’t the most impressive performance the big man has showed all season. Apart from his goal he was marked out the game decently well, but did nearly get another goal when Brad Guzan saved his shot with an incredible save.
The Belgian has now scored 17 in the league this season, making him the first Everton player in the Premier League era to score that many goals in a season. Congratulations Rom!
Substitutions
John Stones – 6. Not much time to make an impression but was slightly at fault for Villa’s goal. Will be looking to force his way back into the team soon.
Leighton Baines – 6. Not much to report, came on and was solid enough to receive a score.
Oumar Niasse – N/A
