Martinez could be sacked next week

Roberto Martinez may be sacked as Everton manager next week with the club’s board set to discuss the Catalonian’s future on Friday, according to the Telegraph.

Large parts of the Everton fanbase have been calling for the Catalonian to be relieved of his duties for quite some time, and new major shareholder Farhad Moshiri isn’t impressed with what he’s seen from the former Wigan boss.

The Iranian billionaire bought 49.9% of the club in February and is planning on increasing his stake over the next year, but he is not happy with his new team’s recent results and is aware of major fan unrest.

The report states that the board have already made up their minds and it is a case of when, rather than if Martinez will go.

Bill Kenwright and Moshiri will look at a number of candidates to succeed Martinez with Ronald Koeman, Frank De Boer and Manuel Pellegrini all likely to be targeted by the aforementioned duo.

Evertonians have been planning protests for Saturday’s game against Bournemouth at Goodison Park and there have already been a number of ‘Martinez Out’ banners displayed by supporters over the last month.

The Toffeemen have won just four of their last 21 league games and have only won four league matches at home all season.
