Everton want Marc Overmars as their director of football
Everton want to bring in Ajax’s director of football Marc Overmars to the same role at Goodison Park in a restructure of the club’s hierarchy, according to a report from David Anderson of The Mirror.
Farhad Moshiri, the club’s new investor, is apparently planning big changes at Everton and sees the former Arsenal and Holland winger as the perfect man to bring in.
Overmars has done well in the role at Ajax. Under his watch, the Amsterdam-based side have won two league titles, managed by Frank De Boer. They’ve also brought through some high-quality players, something which Everton will be keen to do.
De Boer is apparently on Everton’s shortlist of potential new managers, and it would make sense to bring him in with Overmars if all parties agree to such a deal.
Even if De Boer doesn’t become the new Toffees’ boss, the continental-style set-up could help them attract other managers from around Europe who are used to working as part of such structures.
