1. Morgan Schneiderlin (Manchester United)
Everton manager Ronald Koeman declared his interest in Schneiderlin a couple of weeks ago and is poised to go head-to-head with West Brom for his signature.
The Frenchman has endured a tricky spell at Old Trafford but Koeman will be hoping to reunite the partnership which earned the midfielder a big-money move to Manchester United in the first place.
2. Virgil Van Dijk (Southampton)
Another player who has played under Koeman before.
Van Dijk has shone in the Southampton side this season and a number of top teams are now battling it out for his services.
Everton would have to fend off competition from the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea to sign him, but it is the statement of intent that the fans have been eagerly anticipating.
3. Memphis Depay (Manchester United)
Depay, like Schneiderlin, has struggled during his time at Old Trafford.
Koeman is a known fan of Depay and could look to bolster his attacking options after summer signing Yannick Bolasie was ruled out for the rest of the season.
Some recent performances have shown that Everton are lacking creativity and Koeman is sure to address that in January.
4. Callum Wilson (Bournemouth)
On-loan Enner Valencia has been playing more often in a wide area than as a striker, leaving Everton with a lack in depth of forwards.
Being able to deploy Wilson from the bench would mean that Everton could trouble the opposition’s defence for the full 90 minutes.
His pace and power could make him a superb impact substitute.
5. Manolo Gabbiadini (Napoli)
Gabbiadini was also a summer target for Everton but the deal came too late in the window.
The 25-year-old has shown that capable of scoring goals but is rarely given a run in the Napoli team where he can prove it.
A lack of game-time in Italy could see him in search of a move away from the club, and Everton should be the first to swoop if he is.
6. Geoffrey Kondogbia (Inter Milan)
Everton’s midfield stalwart, Gareth Barry, is beginning to show signs of fatigue when he is required to play in every match.
In order to combat that, the Toffees should look to bring in a long-term replacement.
Kondogbia has been linked with a move to Goodison Park in the last few weeks, and signing him would show the rest of the Premier League what their intentions are for the future. If they want a marquee signing then they are looking at him.
7. Niklas Sule (Hoffenheim)
Hoffenheim’s unbeaten start to the season has been largely down to consistently commanding performances from Sule.
The centre-back is considering one of the brightest young talents in Germany and, at the age of 21, could provide Everton with some long-term stability in the defensive areas.
Sule’s attributes would likely come with a large price tag, but it could be a risk that pays off for the Toffees.
8. Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea)
Since leaving Tottenham in 2014, Sigurdsson has shone at Swansea, scoring 23 goals and grabbing 18 assists in the Premier League in that time.
Sigurdsson is unlikely to want to drop down to the Championship next season and with the Swans involved in a treacherous battle against relegation, now could be the time to go for the Icelandic star.
The 27-year-old would add the creativity and flair that has been lost from Ross Barkley’s game this season and would supply brilliant service for Romelu Lukaku.
9. Joe Hart (Manchester City)
Despite a good start to the season, Maarten Stekelenburg has become prone to making a few mistakes in recent weeks and that could force Everton’s hand in the transfer market.
There are rumours that City want to offload Hart next month rather than waiting for next summer and that they are willing to do so for a cut-price too.
Koeman needs to take advantage of this and get the deal over the line as soon as possible, or risk missing out again like they did in the summer.
10. Ademola Lookman (Charlton)
This signing wouldn’t necessarily boost the squad in the short-term, but Lookman is one of England’s brightest talents.
Having established himself in the Charlton team at the age of 18, numerous top flight teams have been monitoring his progress. To secure a talent as raw as his would show to their Premier League rivals that they mean business in their hunt to achieve long-term success.
