It’s been a week of shaking up at Goodison, with a significant transfer coming in, in the face of Morgan Schneiderlin, and two outs. Those being Niasse and Cleverley. Martinez’ legacy right there.
Although I will say, I really hope they do well, especially Cleverley. He always gave his all and never said a bad word about the club. All the best Clevs.
Anyway, Morgan Schneiderlin.
It’s so refreshing to see a player in the prime of his career, that being the prime of a French International’s career, choose to join Everton. He could have gone to a lot of clubs, both abroad and on the continent, but no, he’s moving to Finch Farm. Or USM Finch Farm, as it is so enjoyable to say.
Don’t see what the fume is about him taking Number Two either. It’s a number. Hibbert had it. Certainly an upgrade.
So, onto City.
They have Stones, if he plays, we should win.
Done.
Team.
Joel Robles
Still Number One, no issues here.
Séamus Coleman (RB)
He’s been falling off the boil again recently, and I was seriously debating whether to put Holgate in his place.
It’s no walk in the park for Séamus to keep his place anymore, but this hasn’t really kicked him on as it should.
Need to pick it up this week
Ramiro Funes Mori (CB)
Defence as a whole was shocking midweek, Ramiro is no exception.
But let’s be honest, his competition is Jagielka. If you can call it competition.
Ashley Williams (CB)
Ok, the defence as a whole was, but most of it fell to Ash.
I have confidence, as we probably all do, that he’ll be fine again soon, just a rough patch.
Leighton Baines (LB)
Now Baines is finding himself again, much better recently from the veteran left back.
Ademola Lookman (RM)
Why not?
Mirallas has been extremely underwhelming thus far, Deulofeu has one foot out the door, and Lennon is too far out of his depth.
With Koeman suggesting that Ademola will have a role to play this Sunday, so why not make it a starring role?
Morgan Schneiderlin (CM)
Right then, he plays for us now.
After weeks of speculation, he finally donned the Royal Blue on Thursday afternoon.
Let’s make it so he’s back in the shirt on Sunday, playing against his former club’s rivals.
Tom Davies (CM)
With Idrissa Gueye still gone over in Africa, Tom Davies can fully occupy a first-team role in his absence.
Maybe even alongside him when he’s back, who knows?
Kevin Mirallas (LM)
After saying Mirallas has been underwhelming, i’ll play him anyway.
Come back Yannick. Please.
Enner Valencia (ST)
Now onto the biggest surprise in a good way.
Enner Valencia has been absolutely superb, one of our best players this season. He has been brilliant up top with Rom, but has often been scapegoated and subbed off for some reason.
His situation is scarily similar to that of Steven Naismith’s a few years back; often criticised, under-appreciated.
