Given Romelu Lukaku’s seemingly unwavering stance over a new contract with Everton, the club need to start looking at contingency plans for if they do sell the Belgian in the summer.

One of the strikers that have been linked with a move to Goodison Park is Anthony Modeste with Everton scouts present during FC Cologne’s 4-2 win over Hertha Berlin last weekend where Modeste netted a hat-trick.

Most will remember the 28-year-old from his disappointing loan spell with Blackburn during the latter half of the 2011/12 season where he failed to net in nine appearances.

Scouts from Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United were also in attendance so the Toffees could be facing the prospect of some stiff competition for the striker.
