Everton’s interest in Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has been well documented over the last couple of weeks, but Leicester appear to be dark horses in the race to land him.
According to the Daily Mail, the Foxes are intending to pip Everton to the signature of the Icelandic international, and will offer him a significant pay rise. It’s stated in the report that Leicester are willing to make Sigurdsson their highest paid player at a staggering £125,000 per week.
Although Sigurdsson has been widely reported to be most keen on a switch to Everton this summer, the money on offer from Leicester is sure to be an attractive proposition for him.
The 27-year-old is understood to be keen on working within the ongoing project at Everton, and will certainly favour the prospect of European football next season.
However, Swansea will not sell for any less than top dollar, and have been rumoured to have set an asking price of £50m for Sigurdsson.
