Joe Williams set for Barnsley loan move
Everton youngster Joe Williams is set to join Championship side Barnsley on loan until January, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The youngster is set to complete his move later on today, and will begin his first ever stint away from Everton at Oakwell.
The 20-year-old is still part of Ronald Koeman’s long term plans and he did travel with the rest of the Everton squad to Tanzania for their pre-season training.
Williams featured multiple times on the bench for Everton last season, although he failed to earn his debut appearance for the Blues. Now, the club believes a loan spell away from Merseyside is the best move for the midfielder’s development.
Williams signed a new contract with the Toffees back in February, keeping him at Goodison Park until 2020.
Everton have a good working relationship with Barnsley, having signed Mason Holgate in 2015 and John Stones two years prior.
