Klaassen impressed with Rooney’s desire to succeed
Davy Klaassen has revealed that he is hugely impressed with the desire and determination to succeed of England international Wayne Rooney, according to a report on the Daily Mail.
Ex-Manchester United man Rooney has expressed his happiness to be back at Goodison Park and is excited to represent his boyhood club once more in the upcoming season.
It is great to combine with Wayne. He is a quick thinker and I like that. He looks for me when I make my runs into the area.
It is not all that difficult to combine with Wayne. He is a world class striker who has joined us and is playing in front of me.
He is hungry on the pitch and he wants to be at a club with a big ambition. He came here for the reasons I did, to be successful.
Rooney scored a wonder goal in his first pre-season friendly with Everton last week, and in typical fashion. He picked the ball up outside the area and curled the ball into the top corner.
Rooney emphasised that he has not come back to a “retirement home”, rather he is keen to succeed and win trophies with the Merseyside club.
And it is this hunger for success which has impressed Klaassen so much. The Dutch international made the switch from Ajax to Everton for £25m and has immediately seen how Rooney brings the best out of the players around him.
The midfielder can’t wait for the new season to get started as Everton look to push for a top four spot in the league.
