Everton make new bid for Gylfi Sigurdsson
Everton boss Ronald Koeman is determined to do whatever it takes to get Gylfi Sigurdsson from Premier League rivals Swansea as the Merseyside club’s spending looks set to go over £130m this summer, according to a report on the Express.
The Toffees have offered a staggering £40m plus £5m in add ons for the playmaker as they pursue the Icelandic man.
Everton have been interested in Sigurdsson for some time and with the future of Ross Barkley in doubt, Koeman is keen to sign the free-kick specialist.
He has proven his quality in the Premier League for several years now and managed to get his name on the scoresheet nine times whilst also assisting 13 as he helped Swansea to escape relegation last season.
The 27-year-old was not included in the Swansea squad which travelled to the United States for some pre-season training as he attempts to resolve his future.
It is understood that the midfielder himself wants a move to Goodison Park, where Koeman is assembling a very strong squad this summer.
Swansea have slapped a £50m price tag on Sigurdsson in an attempt to put off any potential bidders but Everton are hoping that they will lower their valuation slightly and accept their offer of £45m.
Everton are also prepared to offer the midfielder a £90,000 a week contract to lure him to Merseyside.
