Everton target Slimani if move for Giroud falls through
According to the Express, Everton will move to sign Islam Slimani if they fail to snap up Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.
Giroud’s future at The Emirates has been in doubt this transfer window, with the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette pushing him down the pecking order. Everton have been heavily linked with the Frenchman, especially after Romelu Lukaku’s exit from Everton to Manchester United.
However, Giroud’s future at Arsenal has become more stable recently, leading Everton to line up a move for Leicester’s Slimani, just in case the Giroud move doesn’t happen.
The Algerian scored eight goals in 29 appearances in all competitions for Leicester last season and also got five assists. However, 13 of the 29 appearances were from the bench.
In terms of style of play, Slimani is quite similar to Giroud, although he does not have the track record of the Frenchman so Everton will still be hoping to do a deal for the Arsenal striker.
