Everton have today confirmed that experienced midfielder Gareth Barry has joined West Brom on a one-year contract.

Barry had been linked with a move to the Hawthorns throughout the summer but completed his medical on Tuesday.

The midfielder had fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park following the arrivals of the likes of Davy Klaassen and Morgan Schneiderlin.

The England international, who arrives with a wealth of experience under his belt, joins as a direct replacement for Darren Fletcher, who left for Stoke earlier in the summer.

The 36-year-old will be available to feature for the Baggies against Burnley on Saturday.

Everton have now trimmed their midfield options, and Ronald Koeman has made room in the squad ready for the arrival of Gylfi Sigurdsson in the coming days from Swansea.
