Pickford will become England no.1 says Everton team-mate
Everton’s Jordan Pickford has been backed to make the England goalkeeper position his own by fellow team-mate Mason Holgate.
The Liverpool Echo report that the Everton youngster believes Pickford has all the qualities to be the country’s number one goalkeeper in the future, despite not yet making an appearance for the Three Lions.
I think he’s one of the best around in his position. I believe, in time, he’ll become England’s number one.
Pickford has represented England at various youth levels and is a regular for the U21s.
Everton’s summer signing has a wealth of competition in front of him currently though, with Joe Hart currently occupying the number one slot.
Behind the on-loan Manchester City goalkeeper, Stoke’s Jack Butland and Southampton’s Fraser Forster and Burnley’s Tom Heaton have all been involved in recent squads.
There have been question marks surrounding the long-term future of Joe Hart as England’s number one, meaning the position could be up for grabs by the time the 2018 World Cup comes around in the summer.
