Netherlands international Bas Dost has dismissed reports that he could be set for a January move to Everton.
Speaking to Dutch news outlet AD, the powerful centre forward insisted that he is happy at Sporting CP and is not looking to leave Portugal any time soon, despite Everton showing interest.
I’m not waiting for a winter transfer at all. I’m excited at Sporting and I want to be a champion here. I’m not leaving in the winter break.
The towering striker has been excellent since arriving in the Liga NOS and has established himself as a key player for Sporting. He holds a €60 million release clause, and is held in extremely high regard by the Portuguese club.
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is keen to bolster his squad in January, and given that he failed to recruit a replacement for Romelu Lukaku in the summer, was understood to have identified Dost as the perfect man to step in.
However, it appears as though the player himself has snubbed the possibility of a move in the winter transfer window.
