Onyekuru hoping for Everton return in January
Henry Onyekuru says he is hoping to return to Everton during the January window after an impressive start to the season.
The youngster, who joined Anderlecht on a season-long loan in the summer, confirmed to Belgian publication La Libre that Everton are discussing the possibility of bringing him back to the club.
Yes, that’s right [had a meeting in Liverpool] and I’m waiting for something. That’s all I can say. I hope to be able to play there in January. Everton is happy with my start to the season. But we are not in January and all my concentration is in Anderlecht.
Onyekuru has impressed since joining the Belgian side, scoring seven goals in 12 games at the club.
The youngster’s form has not gone unnoticed and with Everton lacking any real pace in their attack, his return could be welcomed with Ronald Koeman under pressure at Goodison Park.
Koeman has shown in the past that he is no afraid to put his faith in young players.
Everton may struggle to bring the player back early as he did not qualify for a UK work permit during the summer, however the club could appeal that again in January.
