When the decision was made to relieve Ronald Koeman of his duties at Goodison Park, it was met with a sigh of relief among the Everton faithful.
The air of optimism has sadly diminished in the recent weeks after the caretaker manager David Unsworth oversaw the Blues’ exit from two cup competitions in a week.
Coupled with the very disappointing defeat at the King Power stadium, the knives have been well and truly drawn to the board to find the man to take Everton to steady the ship and get the results we all so much yearned.
We did get the result (and the fight from the team) we craved after a tremendous fightback vs Watford to give Everton a boost ahead of the international break.
I’ve taken a look at the potential candidates for the Everton role predicted how they’d do at Goodison.
David Unsworth
I love the fella, first and foremost.
But he is not the man to take Everton forward.
Yes, he worked wonders with the U23’s and has bedded some of these lads into the first team but some of the tactics and team selections have left a lot to be desired.
Keep him with the U23s…
Sam Allardyce
This is last resort stuff in my eyes.
The man worked wonders with Bolton, no doubt. He kept Sunderland in the Premier League one more year more than they looked like they would too.
His tactics would not warm the cockles of any of the fans at Goodison. He would, however, keep us in the league with games to spare and if the board are that scared of relegation, then he could be their choice, even though he’s reportedly decided to pull out of the race.
Sean Dyche
Dyche has been brilliant for Burnley and has shown that if you keep faith in a manager after relegation, you can reap the rewards.
He isn’t the sexy name the board or the fans want, but his tactics and his shrewdness in the transfer market has give him similar comparisons to one David Moyes.
Hungry and ambitious, I would have no problem with this appointment.
Marco SIlva
100% yes from me!
He might be the next Roberto Martinez but he could be the next Pep Guardiola.
He had a good record with Hull and has one with Watford too. He’s won things and let’s face it, that is what we need.
