Everton were willing to pay £20m for Marco Silva
Premier League club Everton were willing to pay as much as £20m to secure the services of Watford manager Marco Silva but the Hornets were still not interested, according to Bleacher Report’s football insider Dean Jones.
The Merseyside club are still on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Ronald Koeman. David Unsworth has been the caretaker manager for the past month and is also in contention to get the permanent job.
They have been pursuing Silva, who is their primary target to take over as manager but the Toffees confirmed yesterday that they will now turn their attention to other potential managers.
Watford have shown tremendous strength to turn down any moves for their manager, who has made a brilliant start to the Premier League season with them after making the switch from Hull City.
Watford are in eighth position in the English top flight and have been one of the most entertaining sides in the division.
Silva is on a two year deal at Watford and Everton were willing to pay out his contract worth £10m for each year but this was not enough to persuade the Hertfordshire club to part with the 40-year-old.
Silva himself has kept tight lipped over the interest from Everton and has kept focused on the job at hand at Watford.
