Everton duo Tom Davies and Jonjoe Kenny have praised Sam Allardyce’s “straightforward” approach to management.

Allardyce began his tenure as Everton boss with a confident 2-0 win over Huddersfield, just several days after David Unsworth’s side dismantled West Ham United in a 4-0 win at Goodison Park.

Craig Shakespeare led a young and inexperienced Everton squad to Cyprus for the club’s final Europa League while Allardyce attended a pre-arranged medical appointment, and despite having already been knocked out, the Toffees ran out 3-0 victors.

Talking to Sky Sports Premier League, Davies said that Allardyce’s ideas are much less confusing and easy to understand. He said;

I’ve enjoyed it so far. He’s dead straightforward.

He’s lively about the place and just tells you how it is. You know exactly what he wants from you and as a player that’s what you need. There is no confusion and I’m enjoying it.

Kenny believes that Everton’s upturn in form highlights just how influential Allardyce has already been. He said;

To get a win and a clean sheet is a decent start. I don’t think you can get better than that as a first game.

He has come in with his own ideas and everyone has taken to them. The backroom staff he has brought in have been brilliant and we’ve kicked on.
