Ronald Koeman wanted to sign Daley Blind for Everton before he was sacked, according to the Express.

The Dutch utility man has fallen out of favour with Manchester United, and it has been reported in recent weeks that he looks set to leave next summer, with the club looking to trigger a one-year extension to ensure they receive money for the soon-to-be out of contract player.

Now, the Express are reporting that Ronald Koeman was keen on signing the defender-cum-midfielder, however the club would rather prioritise a striker.

The Netherlands international has been with United since 2014, having been signed from Ajax for £13.8million, and has been linked with a move to the Toffees in the past.

With the Blues’ light at the back, especially in the left-back department (where Blind can play), the club could potentially look into making a move for the Dutchman in January.
