Everton line up January move for Patrick van Aanholt
Everton are interested in signing Crystal Palace full-back Patrick van Aanholt in January, according to a report from ESPN.
New Blues’ boss Sam Allardyce is a big fan of the Dutch international, having worked with him at Palace and Sunderland. The left-back enjoys working under Allardyce and would reportedly be interested in reuniting with him once again.
Everton have had injury issues at left back with Leighton Baines struggling to stay fit and Cuco Martina has hardly been convincing in his absence.
However, even though the 27-year-old has not been able to secure a regular starting place at Palace since Roy Hodgson took over, the Eagles are in the middle of a relegation battle and it seems unlikely that they’ll be willing to let anybody leave.
The only way Van Aanholt would be sold would be to fund any other January transfers, although Palace have shown a willingness to spend in recent windows without selling first.
