Everton have ended their interest in Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri as Sam Allardyce looks to strength over areas of his squad.
Reports in France from Foot Mercato say that Everton had been interested in the player who came close to joining Barcelona last summer.
Everton believe they have enough cover in the central midfield positions and will now begin to look elsewhere.
Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the player in the past.
In recent days Seri has expressed his desire to play in the Champions League as he closes in on his exit from Nice.
Seri played a key role in Nice’s third-place finish in Ligue 1 last season, however, Lucian Favre’s men have struggled in the earlier stages of the season, leaving them sixth in the table.
The news comes just a day after Everton completed the signing of Turkish striker Cenk Tosun from Besiktas.
