According to Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro’s agent, Everton are among a host of clubs keen to land the Italy international this month.
Speaking to Italian news outlet Il Bianco Nero recently, as cited by Football Italia, Sturaro’s agent Carlo Volpi admitted that the Toffees, along with Valencia and the majority of Serie A clubs, are interested in signing his client.
In Italy, 80 per cent of clubs want him, some more insistently than others. Abroad, Valencia and Everton are the sides that principally want him. Stefano’s situation is clear: Juve won’t let him go, because he’s a player the Bianconeri need.
Sturaro is regarded only as a backup option at Juventus but it seems that they still hold him in high regard, with the club keen to retain his services beyond the January transfer window.
Juventus have an abundance of talented midfielders, which has meant that first-team places have been hard to come by for Sturaro. However, he has proven time and time again that he is a reliable deputy for the reigning Serie A champions, and they are keen to keep him.
Naturally, we are pleased at interest from Italy and abroad with so many clubs calling us, but the directors are saying no to everybody.
We know that anything can happen on the transfer market, but Juventus were clear with everybody. Massimiliano Allegri has always asked for Sturaro to stay in the squad.
Everton will be hoping to further strengthen their squad this month, with Sturaro seemingly a target.
