Everton youngster in line for England senior call-up
Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be set to receive another call-up to the England national team ahead of the upcoming friendlies this month.
According to a report from the Daily Star, Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate is considering handing Calvert-Lewin only his second ever call-up to the senior side as he weighs up his options ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
As a result of an injury crisis in the England squad back in November, young Toffees forward Calvert-Lewin was drafted in to train with the first-team.
Although he didn’t play against Brazil, it seems he may have done enough in training to convince Southgate of his qualities.
The former Sheffield United youngster has hardly been in prolific form this term but has still been a bright spark in what has been a disappointing campaign for Everton.
England travel to the Netherlands for a friendly against ex-Everton boss Ronald Koeman and his side, before they welcome Italy to Wembley just days later this month.
