Jack Wilshere is reportedly set to agree to a new contract with Arsenal.
Despite rumours the long-time Gunner was ready to make a move away from the Emirates, it seems the 26-year-old will choose to stay in North London.
Contract negotiations had stalled as recently as last month, with an incentive-based contract reportedly discouraging Wilshere from committing his future to the North London club.
A loan spell to Bournemouth last season had led many to believe the Stevenage-born play-maker’s time was up at Arsenal, but a successful campaign this year had seen Wilshere reintroduced to first team football.
A series of clubs had been suggested as possible destinations for the Englishman’s next move, among which were Everton.
The Toffees were reportedly looking to make the midfielder an offer to join a talented rank at Goodison Park, where he could have moved alongside Idrissa Gana Gueye, Wayne Rooney, and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Everton will now have to look elsewhere to bolster that midfield in the summer transfer window.
