It was reported yesterday that Wayne Rooney had agreed a deal to join MLS side DC United in the summer, but Sam Allardyce says that he hasn’t asked for a move. Speaking at his press conferecne, the Everton manager said:
If any player wants to leave I’m comfortable with it. But let’s put it right, Wayne has not asked to leave.
Rooney only rejoined Everton last July after spending 13 successful seasons at Manchester United, but now the 32-year-old has apparently agreed a £12.5 million move to Major League Soccer.
England’s all-time top goalscorer made 31 appearances for the Toffees this season, finishing as their top goalscorer on 11 goals.

However, with Allardyce’s future still subject to speculation, Rooney could be making the move across the pond, where he will most likely end his career.
The US transfer window doesn’t officially open until July so there may be a wait for the move to be announced, but at this moment in time, it looks likely to happen.
