Ronald Koeman will look to make a move for Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck, if Everton can’t broker a deal with the Gunners for Olivier Giroud, according to the Mirror.

Everton have already signed two strikers in Sandro Ramírez and Wayne Rooney, but they still lack a focal point –  a replacement for Romelu Lukaku. Olivier Giroud remains Koeman’s number one target, but the Frenchman wants to wait to see if he fits into Arsene Wenger’s plans.

Welbeck, who joined the London club in 2014, is seen as an alternative to Giroud, should the 30-year old elect to stay with Arsenal, and who would cost the Toffees £30million.

Wenger has been openly adamant that Alexis Sánchez will remain at the club beyond the summer, but striker Lucas Pérez looks set to leave after formally handing in a transfer request, which would presumably lower the chances of Giroud leaving.

The 26-year old would give Everton another option, but his poor injury record would need to be a major consideration for the Blues.
