PSV set to challenge Everton for Room
Dutch side PSV are set to challenge Everton for the signing of Eloy Room from Vitesse.
According to De Telegraaf, PSV and Everton are keen on signing Room as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping options.
Everton have been linked to Room a number of times this summer as they look for a back-up option to Jordan Pickford.
Ronald Koeman signed Pickford from Sunderland for a – at the time – club-record £25m, making it unlikely that Room would come in as first-choice.
Now PSV are set to join the race as they look to the future after Joroen Zoet. Premier League side Crystal Palace look set to sign Zoet, with Room eyed as his successor.
Palace have lodged a £5.4m bid for Zoet as they look to replace Steve Mandanda, who joined Marseille earlier this summer.
If Zoet were to leave, PSV would be able to offer Room the number one jersey, which Everton would be unable to provide.
