According to reports in Germany, Everton have bizarrely emerged as suprise contenders for the signature of Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 28-year old Gabon international has been sensational for Dortmund since signing from Saint-Étienne in 2013, scoring 139 goals in 209 appearances in all competitions. He scored twice in the final day of the Bundesliga last season to take the Golden Boot, scoring 40 in 46 in all competitions.

The 6-foot-1 speedster already has 11 goals in 12 in the Bundesliga this season, however his future with the club has come into question due to a number of off-field issues that has reportedly led Dortmund to decide to offload him in January.

Given his on-field credentials, Aubameyang will have a long list of potential suitors when he does move, so a move to Everton is very unlikely. However, Farhad Moshiri does have the necessary funds, so although unlikely, a move can’t be completely ruled out.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have all had their names thrown into the mix too, and with Jürgen Klopp being the man who brought Aubameyang to Signal Iduna Park, the Reds’ may hold a slight advantage.

With Everton looking to bring in a new forward having not adequately replaced Romelu Lukaku in the summer, and with the money in the bank to do so, who knows what could happen.
