Long-term Everton target William Carvalho could be set to leave Sporting CP on a free transfer this summer.
According to fresh claims from Portuguese news outlet O Jogo on Monday, the midfielder has submitted his request to have his contract at Sporting terminated.
The decision from Carvalho, along with other senior Sporting players such as Bruno Fernandes and Gelson Martins, comes following physical attacks from the club’s supporters at the training ground in recent times.
It’s believed that the Portugal international has demanded that Sporting agree to allow him to leave the club this summer, with his an immediate termination sought by Carvalho and many others.
Everton have long been linked with a swoop for Carvalho and following Marco Silva’s arrival on Merseyside, the speculation has only intensified.
It’s believed that Silva would be keen to reunite with the powerful midfielder this summer and with the player now likely to be available on a free transfer if the termination is processed, Everton’s efforts to land Carvalho may be accelerated.
