Leicester to battle Everton for World Cup defender
Everton will face competition from Leicester City in their bid to sign Croatian international Domagoj Vida, according to reports.
The Toffees were linked with a move for the versatile defender earlier on in the week and it seems they are not the only Premier League club keen to recruit Vida this summer.
Although the player has four years remaining on his current deal at Besiktas, Turkish-Football report that the race for Vida’s signature is heating up, with Leicester having joined Everton in their pursuit of the player.
Vida is currently out in Russia with the Croatia squad as they gear up for the knockout stages of the World Cup. The experienced defender has performed well in the tournament so far, doing his chances of a summer move no harm.
Despite only signing Vida on a free transfer in January, Besiktas are believed to be open to offloading him this summer in order to make a handsome profit.
This will certainly be the case if he continues to flourish for Croatia, as a move to the Premier League becomes an increasingly likely possibility for the powerful defender.
