Everton looking to beat La Liga side to Portugal international
Everton are reportedly desperate to hijack Real Betis to the signing of Portugal international William Carvalho.
The Toffees have been perennially linked with a move for the defensive midfield player and according to claims from Portuguese news outlet Record, they are joined by Monaco in their efforts to make a late move for the player.
Carvalho is continuing to push for an exit from Sporting CP and it was believed that Betis were on the verge of completing a deal to land him this summer.
However, Record believe that there is still a chance that Everton could finally secure a deal for Carvalho, as Marco Silva looks to reunite with the powerful midfielder.
It’s believed, though, that in order for the Toffees to seal the transfer for Carvalho, they will need to sell before they buy.
The report indicates that Everton will need to first make room for the potential arrival of the 26-year-old if they are to pip Betis to his signing in time.
