Everton’s hopes of signing AC Milan man suffer a blow
It was reported on Thursday that Everton were closing in on the permanent signing of AC Milan midfielder Andrea Bertolacci.
The 27-year-old was believed to be on the verge of a €6 million switch to the Premier League after enjoying a strong season on loan at Serie A outfit Genoa last term.
Bertolacci’s tenure at Milan has not been a wholly successful one, with his progress and earlier promise halted and stymied by a succession of injury issues.
It had appeared certain that Milan would offload the midfielder this summer, with Everton waiting with open arms. However, according to new reports from Italy, the Serie A giants could now aim to retain Bertolacci’s services for the upcoming season.
It’s believed that after further observations and analysis in training sessions, Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has been impressed by Bertolacci and would be keen to keep hold of him for the foreseeable future.
Everton are yet to make a single signing this summer, and it seems they have suffered a blow in their hopes of landing Bertolacci from Milan.
