Everton and Napoli to battle for left-back
Everton will reportedly face competition from Napoli in their bid to sign Lucas Digne from Barcelona this summer.
The Toffees’ interest in signing the Frenchman has been well-documented in recent weeks, with the club having identified the defender as a suitable long-term replacement for Leighton Baines.
Digne is still valued as a competent deputy to Jordi Alba at Barcelona, but it seems a summer move could be on the cards with Everton upping their efforts to sign him.
However, it seems that the Toffees will not be able to acquire Digne without opposition, with reports from Italy indicating that Napoli have lined up the former PSG man.
Digne has previous experience of playing in Serie A following his exploits with Roma, and it’s believed that Napoli would be open to adding him to their ranks this summer.
Everton have reportedly put up an offer of £22 million for the Barcelona man as Marco Silva and Marcel Brands continue to refine the first-team squad ahead of their first season at the club.
