Campbell tips Tosun to flourish behind Everton’s creative force
Everton striker Cenk Tosun has been tipped to enjoy a productive season in front of goal by former Toffees star Kevin Campbell.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the former striker explained why he holds such high hopes for Tosun, who has already emerged as a key man for Marco Silva’s side.
I’m sure Cenk Tosun is rubbing his hands together because with those players in midfield and out wide supplying him crosses, he’s going to be licking his lips. He knows there’s going to be a lot more chances coming his way with this group of players.
Tosun has not yet found the net in the early stages of the Premier League season but is evidently Silva’s first-choice striker, with the creative trident behind him still having undergone some rotation due to injuries and suspension.
Campbell believes the Turkey international will thrive from the plethora of creative options he now has behind him, tipping Tosun to net around 15 goals for the Toffees this season.
He is a good finisher and he hasn’t had a sustained supply line to know where his chances are going to come from. But he’s going to excel, I believe, when everyone beds in, and long may that continue. If he could get double figures, 15 or 20 goals, that would be great.
Tosun was recruited from Besiktas in the January transfer window when Sam Allardyce was in charge of the first-team.
The forward showed in the second half of last season that he has all the credentials to establish himself as a reliable goal threat for Everton and he’ll be determined to find the net against West Ham on Sunday afternoon.
