Everton turned down the chance to sign Spain’s Saul
Everton and Manchester United both missed out on the chance to sign Spain’s Saul Niguez as a youngster.
Spanish football pundit Guillem Balague, who was speaking on the BBC’s Euro Leagues Podcast, has revealed that both clubs were offered to chance to bring Saul in.
Saul, now 23, was offered to the Toffees at the age of just 18 but they were not interested.
Manchester United also had the player put to them on a plate when he was 20, but they also declined the offer.
The Spaniard has been one of the rising stars in La Liga in recent years and is now attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest sides.
It is belived that Barcelona are watching the player very closely as he emerges as a key figure within Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side.
Saul was also one of the star performers for Luis Enrique’s new-look Spain side during the most recent international break.
