Silva discusses his pride over Richarlison’s success with Brazil
Everton manager Marco Silva has been speaking of his pride regarding Richarlison’s rapid development in recent times.
The Toffees boss spoke to the club’s official website this week and Richarlison was the topic of plenty of conversation following his recent introduction to international football.
It is a proud moment for me and a proud moment for the club. He is our player and we have to support him. His debut was very, very good and it was important to him [to do so well] in the first moment with his teammates in the national side.
Richarlison was drafted into the senior Brazil squad ahead of their fixtures over the recently-concluded international break. The winger was handed an opportunity to shine against the United States and El Salvador and grabbed his chance with both hands.
After coming off the bench against the USA, Richarlison shone on his full debut for Brazil, netting two goals against El Salvador ahead of his return to Merseyside.
Richarlison enjoyed a strong start to life with the Toffees, netting three goals in his first two games, but has been forced to miss Everton’s recent outings through suspension after he was sent off against Bournemouth.
Silva highlighted how Richarlison must remain grounded and work hard for Everton, putting his disciplinary struggles behind him.
Now he has come back ready to work hard, to learn and improve every day because he has to. And we are here to develop him. He is [a strong character], he needs support like all of them and he is a young boy, only 21.
It was not a good moment for him against Bournemouth but I think he learned from it. We spoke during the following week.
