Match Preview: Arsenal vs Everton
Everton will travel to London this weekend looking to bounce back from their disappointing home defeat to West Ham United.
However, The Blues have another tough game in store as they will take on Arsenal at 4pm on Sunday afternoon, and to say Everton’s record against the Gunners isn’t great would be a huge understatement.
Everton have won just one of the last seven meetings between the two sides; losing the other six, whilst they haven’t won away at Arsenal since 1996, when goals from Graham Stuart and Andrei Kanchelskis gave the Blues a 2-1 win.
After a difficult start, which included losses to Manchester City and Chelsea, Unai Emery’s Arsenal have been in decent form as of late and they’ll provide a tough challenge for an Everton side who looked all at sea against the Hammers.
Arsenal vs Everton betting odds reflect these facts with the Gunners being favourites for the game but the Toffees, who will welcome summer signing Richarlison back from suspension, will hope that the Brazilian can provide a spark to a side that looked very flat at Goodison Park last weekend.
The Blues desperately need the 21-year-old to come back in and hit the ground running as a mounting injury list has left Marco Silva’s squad severely depleted and in order to get something from a tough game at the Emirates, the Portuguese boss will need his best players to step up, especially as he’ll be without some notable stars such as Seamus Coleman and Phil Jagielka.
Arsenal will be going into the game on the back of a Europa League game against Vorskla Poltava and whilst Emery is set to ring the changes for that game, the Blues will hope that the Thursday to Sunday turnaround negatively affects the Gunners like it has impacted other English sides who have competed in the Europa League in recent years.
