Since the departure of our highest goal scorer in Premier league history left us in 2017, we have a massive void up top.
There has always been a distinct lack of goals within most Everton sides and this season’s team (albeit five games in) are looking pretty similar.
There are options in the current side, including Cenk Tosun, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Oumar Niasse and maybe, the Brazilian Richarlison who has been favoured to be played in a wider role.
The trouble with those options is that the lack of confidence and goals have been apparent at Goodison Park.
While I do not doubt the capabilities of any of the strikers we have, I personally believe we need a Romelu Lukaku esque goalscorer to catapult Everton up the league.
Here we take a look at some players Everton could look to buy in January.
Age may not be on Vardy’s side, but in terms of putting the ball in the net, he seems to be a no-brainer.
The lure of a new challenge away from Leicester after winning the league with them could be the perfect tonic for both parties.
Convincing Leicester to sell is a challenge that the club would have to overcome.
I have been a long time admirer of this player since he signed for the Cherries.
Yes, he has had some long-term injuries but has always seemed to come back stronger.
Quick, direct and has a decent record in front of goal is exactly what Everton need.
Rashford’s future at Manchester United is a big talking point at the moment.
He is normally the fall guy at Manchester United if Jose Mourinho wields the axe.
Mourinho has something of a track record when it comes to disregarding young talent. Selling the likes of Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne while at Chelsea.
Rashford has incredible ability and potential. Even Jamie Carragher agrees…
Go and get him Marcel.
As our defeat to West Ham showed, Marko Arnautović would be a big plus in any team below the top six.
His strength, hold up play and finishing shows the class he is at. Let’s face it, Everton have a better chance of doing something more than the Hammers this season.
I would go all out for him.
Dolberg could be considered as something of a wild card.
Tipped for big things when he first burst on the scene, injuries have slowed down his progression somewhat.
Still only young, Dolberg could be Everton’s new hot prospect alongside Richarlison.
With Ajax being the ultimate selling club, they may not be able to turn down the money on offer from a Premier League club.
