Everton have opened talks with Manchester United over a possible January move for defender Marcos Rojo, according to reports.

The Argentinan international has become a forgotten man at Old Trafford and Jose Mourinho is willing to let him leave in order to raise funds so he can sign another central defender.

Everton reportedly made an approach for Rojo in the summer, before deciding to withdraw their interest to focus on a deal to sign Yerry Mina. However, it looks like the Blues will now make another attempt to bring the 28-year-old to Goodison Park.

With Phil Jagielka coming to the end of his Everton career and with Chelsea unwilling to let Kurt Zouma make his loan switch to the Blues a permanent deal, Marco Silva is looking for defensive reinforcements and Rojo looks to be the man he has in his sights.

Rojo can also play as a full-back and would provide more strength in depth to Silva, so it makes sense for the Blues to make a move for him.
