Seamus Coleman has been a tremendous servant to Everton since joining the club over a decade ago, and after a rough start to the year he’s recovered his form on Merseyside in an exemplary manner.
However, it’s never the wrong time to add competition at any position
Therefore, we thought we’d take a look at four possible candidates to make the move to Goodison Park and start staking a claim to the right-back spot.
1) Connor Roberts - Swansea City
Connor Roberts has been one of the most impressive players in the second-tier this year, and the 23-year-old is destined for the top-flight before too long. Can Everton beat the crowds and snag the Welshman before the land’s top clubs are vying for his signature?
2) Pedro Porro - Girona
Porro has made his name as a right wing-back this season, and the 19-year-old could be a name to keep an eye on come the summer. Given his attacking prowess, the Spanish U21 star could also be deployed as a winger if demand necessitated.
3) Valentino Lazaro - Hertha Berlin
Despite being known as a winger before this season, Valentino Lazaro has proven to be a seriously versatile right-sided player in the Bundesliga in the 2018/19 campaign. The Austrian international could be the perfect replacement for Theo Walcott in an attacking sense, and could help out in the right-back spot when called upon by Marco Silva.
4) Jayden Bogle - Derby County
Bogle is one of the most electrifying teenagers in English football currently, and in a couple of years several of the biggest clubs in Europe may be turning their heads to pay attention to his performances. Similar to Roberts, signing the 18-year-old could prove to be a savvy move by the Merseysiders.
