Everton are in a brilliant run of form at the moment, with Marco Silva’s side beating top six sides Arsenal and Chelsea in recent weeks.
The victories will show Silva that his team could be ready to challenge for a top six finish next season.
However, he knows that his squad will need strengthening during the summer transfer window.
The French Ligue 1 is filled with top quality players, who are often available at a bargain fee. Here are some players from the French top flight that Everton should consider signing.
Jason Denayer - Lyon
The Belgian centre-back is one of the best in his position in Ligue 1. He’s become a regular with the national team and is still only 23 years old. With Zouma set to return to Chelsea, Denayer could be an upgrade.
Allan Saint-Maximin - Nice
Saint-Maximin is one of Europe’s most exciting talents. In January, the 22-year-old winger had completed more dribbles than any player in Ligue 1. His pace and tricky footwork would suit Everton.
Houssem Aouar - Lyon
When Pep Guardiola calls a player “incredible”, then you know there’s something special about him. Aouar was hugely impressive against Manchester City and has continued his good form in Ligue 1. The midfielder is composed on the ball, with great vision and versatility.
Ismaila Sarr - Stade Rennais
The 21-year-old winger is one of Europe’s best young talents. His pace, agility and skill make him one of Ligue 1’s most dangerous attacking players. Signing him would be a huge signal of intent from Everton and he could help the Toffees move up to another level.
Mario Balotelli - Marseille
Balotelli’s contract expires at the end of June and he is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League. His attitude and temperament could be an issue but if Silva can manage to get him fully focused, then he could be a great signing for the Toffees.
Maxime Lopez - Marseille
The attacking midfielder is well known for his creativity. He’s only 21 years old but is a regular starter for Marseille. He’s been impressive this season and if an offer from the Premier League comes, he’s unlikely to turn it down.
