Everton have had a mixed season under Marco Silva in the Premier League.
The Toffees have played some exceptional football and are set to end the campaign on a positive note following a strong run of form recently.
Silva has been unable to lead his side to European qualification ahead of next term, but encouragement will be taken from how the squad have progressively gelled and performed as the season has progressed.
Headlines victories such as that of the 4-0 win over Manchester United at Goodison Park in April will provide plenty of excitement for the Toffees faithful.
However, if Everton are to kick on and stake their claim for European football in Silva’s second campaign on Merseyside, yet more investment will be required, with the squad still lacking in some areas.
Serie A has once again displayed a plethora of impressive players throughout the course of the season, and the Toffees could do far worse than explore this market in the summer.

Izzo has been one of Serie A’s best central defenders this season. The Italian has led by example at the back for Torino and has earned a big move. Everton would be foolish not to be in the race to sign him.
Calhanoglu would add yet more creative quality to Everton’s squad. He can operate in any creative role — centrally, on the left or on the right — and would provide the Toffees with a set-piece specialist.
Petagna has been excellent for Spal on loan from Atalanta this season. He’d add a focal point to Everton’s attacking options, and still has
Politano has shown his quality for Inter on many occasions and would add a talented wide player to Silva’s squad. He’d complement the likes of Richarlison and Bernard well.
Diawara would be an ambitious signing from Everton, who will need to sign midfielders this summer. The Napoli has exceptional vision and dictates the tempo of matches with ease.
Mancini is among Italy’s most promising young centre-backs. The Toffees may need to replace Phil Jagielka and Kurt Zouma this summer, and the Atalanta star fits the bill.
