Besiktas boss attempting to stop Tosun move – should he intervene?
Besiktas manager Abdullah Avci will reportedly ask his club’s board to try and prevent Cenk Tosun moving to Qatar.
Reports this week have claimed that Qatari outfit Al Gharafa are keen on signing the Turkey international before the Qatari transfer window closes at the end of September, but Besiktas Avci doesn’t want to miss out on his key target.
Avci wants to bring Tosun back to Istanbul to partner Burak Yilmaz up front, and the coach is worried that Al Gharafa’s attempt to sign the 28-year old will scupper the Turkish side’s plans for the January window, as reported by Fotospor (via Sport Witness).
Avci will personally ask his board to stop Tosun leaving Everton before January, while he will also reportedly call Tosun personally to advise him not to move to Qatar at this stage of his career.
Tosun previously indicated that he would be prepared to stay and fight for his place at Goodison Park, but after further snubs in the Premier League this season, Tosun could be ready to reignite his career elsewhere.

Talk about going beyond the call of duty to land your man…
I hope this doesn’t work out, because it really doesn’t benefit Everton in any way. Besiktas want an 18-month loan deal, and if Tosun doesn’t have a place in Everton’s squad, the club need to sell him, not loan him out for the foreseeable future.
Besiktas seems like the ideal place for the player, but unless the Turkish side are willing to fund a permanent transfer, Everton shouldn’t take any interest in doing business there.
