Everton have asked the squad to remain behind after training so that the players can be addressed by Farhad Moshiri.

The majority shareholder travelled to Finch Farm earlier today following a conference call this morning to discuss Marco Silva’s future as Everton boss.

The Portuguese coach has come under considerable pressure on Merseyside, and following last night’s 5-2 thrashing by Liverpool, many have predicted that the former Watford boss could be relieved of his duties this afternoon.

Now according to Alan Myers, the players will hear from the club’s owner directly, although there is no indication what the nature of the conversation will be, or whether Silva has yet been dismissed.

Reacting on Twitter, a number of Everton fans saw the funny side.

I don’t really understand what Farhad Moshiri aims to accomplish by speaking to the players after training. Is he going to tell them they’ve been awful recently? Possibly, but I think most likely not.

Unless he is going to tell the players that they need to be better, which in itself is a pointless comment, then I don’t know what he plans on doing.

Maybe he’ll deliver the news that Marco Silva has been sacked. We’ll have to wait and see how this pans out.
