Despite a number of setbacks in his Everton career, Yannick Bolasie has defiantly insisted he is ‘alive and kicking’ and ready to push on in his career despite effectively being forced out of the club.
Bolasie was a notable absentee from Everton’s official Premier League squad list and is firmly outside of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans at Goodison Park.
In a painful twist, Bolasie saw a deadline day loan move to Championship side Middlesbrough collapse, although ‘Boro manager Neil Warnock has expressed a desire to renew negotiations over a move for the January winter transfer window. The winger has already been loaned out to Aston Villa, Anderlecht and Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.
The breakdown of the Teesside loan move has led to the Congolese winger being peripheralised by the Toffees, but he insists that will not stop him from remaining optimistic over his future.
When reflecting on his omission from Everton’s Premier League squad, Bolasie told Sky Sports:
“It was disappointing. I continue to keep working and to play and train to the best of my ability. That’s what I’m doing right now.
“I’m not counting myself out, and I believe that eventually my talent will come out – wherever it’s with and wherever I am. I believe in what I’m doing, and I feel I’m doing myself justice.
“The way to stay positive is to always look for ways in which you can improve. What total distance can I get through in a week or in a session? Can I beat it next week? That’s what motivates me still. This helps me stay ready in so many ways.
“Whenever I’ve been backed into a corner, I’ve always thrived. I believe that whatever happens, I will come out stronger and will show everyone what I can still do. Even if there’s just that one per cent chance of a move, I’m alive and kicking.”

His stoic can-do attitude is commendable given the difficulty of his present circumstances, but it is clear (and has been for some time) that the former Crystal Palace man lacks any kind of future at Everton.
Whilst Bolasie remains fit, a loan move is still a viable option but, until then, Everton’s failure to offload him is the Toffees’ loss – at minimal issue to Bolasie himself.
