Everton have had a number of young players out on loan this season.

One of those being U23’s player Ellis Simms, who has spent the second half of this season on loan at League 1 club Blackpool.

Simms enjoyed a great first half of this season with the U23’s in the Premier League 2.

From just 12 games he managed 8 goals, hence Blackpool’s desire to take the youngster on loan.

The 20-year-old has impressed so much that even BBC Radio Lancashire pundit Brett Ormerod has been singing his praises.

Speaking to The Athletic, Ormerod has been blown away by his progression over the last few months.

Simms has scored 8 goals in 21 League 1 appearances and has been a leading light in Blackpool’s promotion charge.

“He’ll have learned a lot under Critchley, who is a great manager. He’s been fantastic for Blackpool and Blackpool have been fantastic for him. He’s made massive strides, scoring some fantastic goals, and he’s only 20… If he keeps his head down then who knows. You improve through experience. He’s got everything in the locker that you need as a forward.”

Brett Ormerod speaking to The Athletic about Ellis Simms

It looks like Everton could have a real player for the future in the form of Simms.

Simms has clearly impressed on his loan with Blackpool, with the seaside club managing a spot in the play offs.

The young forward will no doubt have a big part in their play off games in the coming weeks, as the club push for the Championship.

Everton have a fantastic crop of attacking talent already in the first-team with Dominic Calvert-Lewin a prime example.

Since being promoted to the first-team Calvert-Lewin has been the heart of the clubs attack.

It is likely we may see Simms slowly push his way into the set up, with Ormerod stating he has everything in his locker.

It will be exciting to see the career that Simms may carve for himself in the future.
